Bakhtiyar Ali was born in the city Slemani southern Kurdistan in 1960. He is regarded by many as the greatest living Kurdish writer and intellectual. He is also a prolific literary critic, essayist and poet. Ali began as a poet and essayist, but has established himself as an influential writer of the mid-1990s. He has six novels, several volumes of poetry and essays published books. He has lived in Germany since the mid-1990s (Frankfurt, Cologne and lastBonn). In his scientific papers he has dealt with various topics, such as the 1988 Anfal genocide Saddam-era campaign, the relationship between power and intellectuals and other philosophical topics. He has often employs Western philosophical concepts, to interpret a problem in the Kurdish society, but often modified, or adapts it to its context. He wrote his first prominent paper in 1983, as a long poem Nishtiman "Home".
